Santos
Alonso Alegre,
was awarded a degree in Technical Biology from the País
Vasco University (UPV/EHU) in 1988 and a PhD in Biological
Sciences from UPV/EHU in 1996. He was a Research Fellow
at the Wellcome Trust at the University of Nottingham’s
Institute of Genetics from 1996 to 2001. Since 2001 he
has been a Researcher on the Ramón y Cajal Programme,
sponsored by the Ministry of Science and Technology, at
the Department of Genetics, Physical Anthropology and
Animal Physiology of the UPV/EHU Faculty of Science and
Technology. His research career has centred on human population
genetics and he currently leads and participates in diverse
projects relating to the study of the genetic bases of
human morphological characters.
