Fernando
Laborda Rodríguez,
has a PhD in Pharmacy and a degree in Biological Sciences.
At the present time he is Professor of Microbiology at
Alcalá de Henares University (UAH), Secretary of
the UAH Pharmacy Faculty, General Secretary of UAH and
Director of Summer Courses.
He has worked at Bristol University and Madison University.
He is the author of numerous scientific articles and member
of several scientific societies, such as the American
Society for Microbiology, the Society for Applied Bacteriology,
the Society for General Microbiology and the British Mycological
Society, among others.
He has been Vice-President and President of "The
Biodeterioration Society" and is currently a representative
at FEMS (Federation of European Microbiological Societies).
He founded the Spanish Society for Microbiology’s
Specialist Group on Biodeterioration, of which he was
the first President, a position he still holds.
He is editor of the scientific magazine "International
Biodeterioration and Biodegradation".
He was the Spanish representative to Brussels for the
COST (European Cooperation in the Field of Science and
Technical Research) action 511 (Interaction of Microbial
Systems with Technical Materials) and COST 520 (Bio fouling
and Materials).
He is Director of the UAH "Food Technology and Biosanitary
Sciences Centre”.
